FIFA and Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) have launched an investigation into the behaviour of the Copper Bullets fans during Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Zambia on Saturday evening, reports ghanasoccernet.com. Photographs show the Zambia fans displaying a banner,’H.E. E.C. LUNGU GOD BLESS YOU’ in the stands at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, in support of ‘unpopular’ Zambian president, Edgar Chagwa Lungu. FIFA does not allow political messages during games, which means that Zambia could be fined by football’s governing body as a result at the end of the inquiry. “However, keeping in mind that the rules need to be applied in a neutral and fair manner across FIFA’s 211 member associations, the display, among others, of any political or religious symbol is strictly prohibited. “In the stadium and on the pitch, there is only room for sport, nothing else,’’ chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, Claudio Sulser was quoted as saying by Zambian Obse...

Jhene Aiko Tattooed Big Sean's Face on Her Arm and the Fan Has a Few Opinions

Image
Jhene Aiko  now wears her heart on her sleeve... permanently.  A week after the singer finalized her divorce from  Dot Da Genius , Jhene paid a visit to her local tattoo artist in hopes of paying homage to her new boyfriend of about a year , rapper  Big Sean .  The "Bed Peace" songstress received a large, colored portrait of Big Sean wearing a tuxedo on the back of her arm above the elbow.  Celebrity tattoo artist Miryam "The Witchdoctor" Lumpini completed the ink for Aiko, captioning a snapshot, "Art is ❤️ thanks Jheńe for allowing me to share this moment." And as is the case when any star makes the (often inevitably regrettable) decision to tattoo their S.O.'s name or likeness, their fans have opinions.  Lots of opinions. Some imagined the "Bounce Back" MC's reaction to seeing Jhene's new ink for the first time, while others were waiting for Sean to get his own romantic tattoo before offering their stamp of ap...

Injured Kante returns to Chelsea with muscle tear

Image
N'Golo Kante has left France's camp to return to club side Chelsea after suffering a muscle tear and will miss Les Bleus' clash with Belarus as a result. Hooked after 34 minutes in France's match against Bulgaria on Saturday, the reigning Premier League Player of the Season had been concerned by a potential issue in his leg, according to Les Bleus coach Didier Deschamps. The defensive midfielder left the rest of Deschamps' squad on Monday after a scan revealed he had indeed suffered a tear in his left thigh, with the worst-case scenario looking like the former Leicester man will be out for three weeks. Kante, who has not missed a match with Chelsea so far this season, will likely be forced to sit out Premier Leaguer clashes versus Crystal Palace, Watford and Bournemouth, as well as a Champions League match-up against Roma and a Carabao Cup fixture at home to Everton. Should the 26-year-old make it back after three weeks, he will face a race aga...

Oprah Winfrey Went to the Bank for the First Time in 29 Years to Deposit a $2 Million Check

Image
Not everyone gets to deposit millions into their account, so when the opportunity recently arose for Oprah Winfrey , she took it. As the star revealed to  Ellen DeGeneres during Tuesday's segment of "Burning Questions," the mogul had not been to the bank in 29 years. When asked what her ATM PIN number is, Winfrey didn't quite have an answer. "I don't have one," she said. "I went to the bank recently because I hadn't been to the bank since 1988." So, one day she walked into her local branch and stood in line to deposit a check—for a cool and casual $1 million.  "It felt fantastic," the star noted with a laugh. We bet! However, the bigger laugh came when Winfrey divulged it had actually been  $2 million . Oh, to be Oprah. During the round, DeGeneres also quizzed her famous guest o...

Iceland becomes smallest nation to qualify for World Cup

Image
Iceland have secured a spot at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, becoming the smallest nation by population to ever qualify for the showpiece event. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Johann Berg Gudmundsson scored as Iceland earned a 2-0 victory against Kosovo on Monday, giving the team a record of seven wins, one draw and two defeats — two points clear of Croatia for the top spot in Group I of UEFA World Cup qualifying. With some 335,000 residents, Iceland easily bested Trinidad & Tobago's population of 1.3 million in 2006 to become the smallest nation to secure passage to the World Cup finals. Northern Ireland, who last qualified in 1982 with a population of 1.5m, Slovenia (2002, just under 2m) and Kuwait (1982, 2m) complete the top five. Incredibly, the island nation has just 20,000 registered footballers, male and female, making the nation one of the smallest playing pools on the planet. But Iceland also boasts a UEFA-qualified coach per 500 inabitants, compar...
