Cahill second only to Chelsea skipper Terry on Premier League scoring chart

The Blues defender has been a useful source of goals for Antonio Conte's side this season, and throughout his time on a Premier League stage

Gary Cahill was on target once again for Chelsea against Southampton, with only John Terry having scored more goals in the Premier League from a defensive berth.
Those figures do not include penalties, which helps to nudge the likes of Everton full-back Leighton Baines down the pecking order.

Cahill can, however, be rightly proud of his return down the years, with the towering centre-half having now found the target on 26 occasions in the English top-flight.
He is some way behind his club captain at Stamford Bridge, but he still has a few years left in the tank at 31 years of age.

Cahill’s first Premier League goal was netted for Aston Villa, with an acrobatic overhead kick converted in a derby date with Birmingham City.
That was to be his only top-flight effort for the Villans, with 13 more added to his tally at Bolton Wanderers.

The 2009-10 campaign proved to be his most productive, but he has now matched that five-goal return.

He also has seven in all competitions and needs just one more to set a new personal best.
