Eminem released a four-minute, expletive-filled freestyle rap called "The Storm" blasting President Trump as a racist at the BET Awards on Tuesday. He kicked off the rap by saying "it's the calm before the storm right here," alluding to Mr. Trump's mysterious comments last week about how we are seeing "the calm before the storm." "This is his form of distraction, plus he gets an enormous reaction when he attacks the NFL, so we focus on that instead of talking Puerto Rico or gun reform for Nevada or these horrible tragedies, and he's bored and would rather cause a Twitter storm with the Packers," Eminem rapped. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper took home multiple awards and killed her live performance.It was no surprise when BET announced that Cardi B was nominated for multiple awards for the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper ended up taking home the awards for Hustler of the Year, Single of the Year, and Best New Artist. DJ Khaled introduced the rap newcomer as the crowd rose to their feet to welcome her to the stage. Ogun State government said on Tuesday there is no case of monkey pox in the state and described as shocking a report credited to Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), listing the state as one of the states affected by the disease. The state Commissioner for Health, Babatunde Ipaye, told journalists in Abeokuta there is no case of monkey pox in the state. He blamed the report on overzealous official of the state who informed the Federal Ministry of Health when the case has not been properly examined. The commissioner said the particular officer from the state hospital in Ijebu Ode only noticed a skin lesion on a patient at the hospital and reported the case to NCDCHe said the appearance of rashes on the patient was not suggestive of a monkey pox, adding that no due process was followed before the case was reported. President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the Senate approval for $5.5bn external borrowings. The President’s request was contained in a letter to both chambers of the National Assembly and read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at Tuesday’s plenary. The letter reads: “Accordingly, the Senate is requested to kindly approve the following external borrowings: Issuance of $2.5billion in International Capital Market through Eurobonds or a combination of Eurobonds and Diaspora bonds for the financing of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s 2017 Appropriation Act and capital expenditure projects in the Act. “Issuance of Eurobond in the ICM and/or loans syndication by the banks in the sum of $3billion for refinancing of maturing domestic debts obligations of the Federal Government of Nigeria, while looking forward to the timely approval of the National Assembly to enable Nigerians to take advantage of these opportunities for funding.” Source: The Nation

Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) said on Tuesday that it had deployed over 6, 000 card reader machines to ensure smooth conduct of the Nov. 18,  Anambra governorship election. Mr Charles Mbanaja, INEC Administrative Secretary in Anambra, made this known in an interview  in Awka. Mbanaja said that out of the machines provided 5,000 had been tested and found to be in good working condition. The secretary assured stakeholders of the readiness of the commission to provide a level playing ground to in all candidates participating in the election and urged politicians to play by the rules.   He said INEC had embarked on public enlightenment to sensitise the people on the electoral processes, especially the voting system to address re-occurring cases of invalid votes and other related electoral shortcomings during the election.    Mbanaja said that the commission had also organised a voters’ education forum, which was at...

A woman died and 19 others rescued after a passenger boat capsized in Lagos on Tuesday. It was gathered that the deceased’s husband was also in the boat but survived the mishap. The boat belonging to Sealink Boat Services left Ikorodu in the morning and was heading to Lagos Island before it capsized at Ebute-Ero. Our correspondent gathered that police arrested the boat conductor after the driver fled the scene. Operatives of the Marine Police, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos Waterways Authority were deployed to the scene to save the situation. Eyewitnesses said the boat rammed into a submerged dredger before it upturned and threw all passengers into the water. The General Manager of LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu, said the accident occurred at about 10:00 a.m., adding that the cause of the accident was still unknown. The Senate on Tuesday urged the Federal Government to be pro-active in containing and preventing the spread of Monkey Pox disease already prevalent in parts of the country. Monkey Pox is a rare and infectious disease caused by monkey virus, transmitted from animals to human and with symptoms similar to those of smallpox. The first incident of the disease in Nigeria was reported on Sept. 22 in Bayelsa. The Senate said that the Federal Government’s measures could be undertaken through state and local governments. The lawmakers also advocated enlightenment of citizens about measures that could be taken to mitigate risk factors of exposure to the virus. They equally called for proper liaison by the Federal Government with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other relevant donor agencies for contingencies against eventualities. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday said a re-run of August’s nullified presidential election would go ahead as planned on Oct. 26 after opposition leader Raila Odinga said he was withdrawing from the race. “We have no problem going back to elections.“We are sure we will get more votes than the last time,” Kenyatta told a rally in the southern town of Voi, speaking in Kiswahili. Kenya opposition leader, Odinga had announced his withdrawal from the presidential re-run elections scheduled for Oct. 26. Odinga said at a news conference in Nairobi that he was boycotting the polls because his demands for electoral reform had not been met. A re-run of the presidential vote was announced after Kenya’s Supreme Court nullified the result of the Aug. 8 election due to Odinga’s complaint. Sergio Aguero is back training with his Manchester City team-mates after suffering a broken rib in a car accident. The Argentine attacker makes a quick return after being injured in a car crash in Netherlands at the end of September.Aguero was expected to be out of action for two to four weeks, but the 29-year-old was hopeful of getting back to full fitness sooner . City confirmed on Tuesday that Aguero participated in light training with team-mates not away on international duty, stating that the striker is "expected to gradually build up his fitness in the coming days as he edges towards a first team return". The National Youth  Service  Corps ( NYSC ) says  no fewer than 8, 000 corps members presently serving in Anambra will  be available for the conduct of the forthcoming governorship election. Mr Ebenezer Olawale, the NYSC Coordinator  in the state,  said this in Awka on Sunday. Olawale said the data of corps members in the state had been transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) for planning ahead of the Nov. 18  election.
